Dear current and future KACA members,
The Korean American Communication Association (KACA) is an organization of communication scholars and students whose work addresses various subjects in communication concerning Korea and Korean-Americans. While most of the KACA members reside in North America, there are a significant number of active members from other parts of the world. The organization was founded in 1978 and has a history of 34 years. We have a total of 400+ members worldwide.
The association aims to facilitate exchange of professional knowledge by helping its members better connected to each other, sharing their common interest and useful information. We also sponsor competitive research paper sessions at major communication conferences (AEJMC, ICA, NCA). We also provide informational sessions at the conferences that help our members better prepare for various stages of their academic life, including graduate school, job search, and university teaching. In particular, KACA has maintained a strong tradition of mentoring graduate students.
It is our organizational goal to encourage and facilitate cooperation among members in sharing scholarly information and conducting research in communication, especially focusing on subjects related to Korea and Korean-Americans. KACA functions as a clearinghouse for information on funding opportunities and position openings in the United States, Korea and elsewhere. We also play a role as a hub for networking among our members. KACA hosts formal receptions and social hours at major communication conferences.
Our members are the most important resource that KACA showcases. There is a strong sense of community among its members, who accordingly appreciate the association as a place where they meet good, really good colleagues. I appreciate our current members for their continuing support. I am very proud to tell any potential future members that it is now time to join the KACA family.
Thank you very much.
Sei-Hill Kim, Ph.D.
President, Korean American Communication Association (KACA)
